Who are Big Buddies?

Big Buddies are community members age 18 and older (age16-17 with parental permission and added reference check) who have about an hour a week to spend with a youth.
Big Buddies are your neighbors, your friends, your community members, your teachers, your business associates, your students.
Big Buddies are people just like you! They are people who enjoy spending time with youth. Everyone is unique and brings many special qualities and talents that are just waiting to be shared!

How Can I Become a Big Buddy?

Call your area Big Buddies office to request an application, stop by and pick one up, or download one from our web-site at www.mybigbuddy.org.
Following the application, participate in an interview with a Big Buddies staff person.
Be matched with a Little Buddy who shares common interests with you. Hang out about an hour or so each week and HAVE FUN!

Big Buddy Screening Process

Complete Application and Interview with Big Buddies Staff
Reference Checks
FBI Fingerprint Check and Background Checks
Are age 18 and over (Juniors and Seniors in High School with parental permission)
Are individuals, couples, or families
Are carefully screened through interviews, references and background checks
Meet weekly with their Little Buddy for at least a year, sharing fun and friendship

Being a Big Buddy is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.
As a Big Buddy, you get to help mentor a boy or girl, give him/her valuable time that
he or she needs and you are request to spend only about an hour a week while you
give the gift of your friendship and just being able to hang out with someone just like you!

To empower all youth to grow up health and safe;
equipped for college, work or military service;
prepared for marriage, family, and parenting;
and ready to contribute
to the community.
